Early Voting (a.k.a. In-person Absentee Voting)

In Wisconsin, voters have the opportunity to vote early in their clerk's office for two weeks prior to an election. This is also referred to as "In-Person Absentee Voting" since early voters are technically filling out ballots in the clerk's office and sealing them in an absentee ballot envelope where they will remain until election day when they are verified and counted with all other ballots. The clerk serves as the witness on your ballot envelope.

Dates and times vary greatly by clerk, we suggest confirming before you go! In General, Early Voting (In-Person Absentee) is only allowed the two weeks PRIOR to the Election in the Clerk's Office - from the Tuesday two weeks prior to election to the Friday before the election. Some City Clerks even offer evening hours and Saturdays for larger General Elections.
Some clerks and/or village and town halls have very limited hours and require you to make an appointment to vote early, so it is always best to check the hours before you head out to vote!
