Absentee Voting in Wisconsin
These points are really important- read them!
- Any registered voter can request an absentee ballot in Wisconsin - online or with paper application from your clerk
- An acceptable voter Photo ID will need to accompany request - either upload a photo online or mail a photocopy with application
- A qualified WITNESS must sign, date, and address the ballot return envelope or it will NOT be valid
- Completed ballot must be received by 8pm on Election Day - Allow up to one week for USPS to deliver or put in secure dropbox at clerk's office (see list of dropbox locations below)
- If you use a dropbox, be sure to return to your clerk that is on the envelope! Putting it in another clerk's dropbox will only delay it.
- You have until 5pm on the Thursday prior to an election to request an absentee ballot be SENT to you, but we don't recommend waiting that long - the earlier the better for requests!
- Up until election day, you can track your Absentee Ballot at MyVote.WI.gov
- After election day, it may take up to 30 days for your voter information to be certified and posted on MyVote.WI.gov website
- If you requested ballots for the entire year of 2021, and fail to return any ballot that is sent to you, your request will be nullified for the following election
Deadlines For Absentee Ballots
- Ballots must arrive at your clerk's office by election day
- The last day to request an absentee ballot online is the Thursday prior to an election, we do not recommend waiting that long! There is not enough time to mail it to you and for you to mail it back if you wait that long. You can request your ballot in the beginning of the year.
We are working on confirming these for February and April 2021 elections
